Permafrost in all ways and forms at ICOP 2016

Categories

The 2016 ICOP finished on 24 June. On 23 June Liezel and Christel presented posters on their work: Liezel and rock glaciers in the Jutulsessen of Antarctica and Christel on ground temperature fluctuations due to the construction of buildings, also in the Jutulsessen. Keen to see what happened on Day 3 of the conference? Have a look here. On Friday Ian and Christel both gave talks on active layer monitoring in western Dronning Maud Land of Antarctica. Keen to see what happened on Day 4 of the conference? Have a look here. The conference was a resounding success and the project’s participants were able to engage with fellow researchers within the permafrost community on their work. The video of the best of the conference can be viewed here.

Ian, Liezel and Christel would like to thank the IPA and AWI for making the conference the memorable experience it was. A thank-you also goes out to the various funders (IPA, UFS, RU, NRF) for making it possible to allow them to attend the conference.
